I Kicked My Own Ass Today.

This morning at 7 a.m., Gordon and I did something foolish called "Boot Camp".  Should I have been tipped off by the fact that this exercise class is called "Boot Camp"?  Yes.  That should have been a clue.  But we signed up for the class, we paid for it, and by golly, we are going to finish the entire 4 week class if it kills us.

Well, today was our first morning and it came pretty damn close to killing us.  Well, me.  Gordon outlapped my at every turn, that little show-off.  We started off with running laps around the gym.  I was already tired after lap one.  Then, we spent the next 40 minutes subjecting ourselves to all kinds of human torture....push-ups for one minute, then a lap around the gym.  Lunges for one minute and then a lap around the gym.  Calf raises for one minute and then a lap around the gym.  Please note that I did not mention any rest periods there.  That's because there weren't any.  Well, except a couple of times where we were permitted to rest for one minute, or maybe two.  This insanity carried on for an entire hour.  One exercise after another.

When it was finally over, my muscular system was in a state of malfunction, I just couldn't hold myself up.  I was unpleasantly sweaty and probably flushed (not my best look), and all I really wanted to do was lie down on the gym floor.

I resisted, though, and powered through my morning.  It is now 11:14 a.m. and my muscles are beginning to function normally.  My head still feels heavy, and there isn't enough coffee in the universe to keep me awake and alert, but I feel a little bit great.  Not a lot, but a little.

I'll keep you posted-
