Ursula Rides Again.

I am tired. I mean, really, really tired. Like, the kind of tired where I am fighting tooth and nail to stay awake past 9 p.m. Thus, Ursula has arrived, and she is in fine form.

While performing a "quick trip" to the grocery store (does not actually exist in the O'Neil household), Ursula pushed the wee cart down the aisles, irritation mounting with every person who crossed her path. At last, all items were fetched and Ursula made her way to the check-out line. Naturally, every line was at least ten patrons long, all of whom wanted price checks on silly things like the peanuts that had been discounted 8 cents.

Ursula joined the line to the self-check and prepared for the inevitable ten minute wait. It was then that she noticed the sly man who was attempting to cut in line, stealth as a cat. You should know that everything irritates Ursula, but cutting in lines tops the list. Before anyone could reign her in, Ursula was off and running, ranting (not particularly quietly) about PEOPLE WHO ARE OBVIOUSLY TOO SPECIAL TO WAIT IN LINE LIKE THE REST OF THE PEOPLE IN THE CIVILIZED WORLD. Much to her surprise, this wily bastard did not take his rightful place in line with the proper blend of humility and apology. Oh no. That sneaky Snake In The Grass just stood there. And the irritation mounted to epic proportions. Much glaring and staring down ensued, with no small amount of mutterings uttered. Those who stood nearby (including the Ill-Mannered Ignoramus) were treated to a scathing commentary on THE STATE OF MANNERS AND POLITNESS IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA THESE DAYS.

When a check-out opened, Ursula dashed ahead to the check-out. The poor jack-ass never stood a chance. And yet, he continued to stand in his place, perhaps thinking that no one else had noticed his GROSS LACK OF RESPECT FOR THE RULES AND REGULATIONS THAT GOVERN POLITE SOCIETY. Ursula was indeed gratified to note that individuals who stood behind her in line joined her in protest by refusing to let Lester Line-Cutter cut in front of them.

And then, Ursula realized that trips to the grocery store are not intended to become a heart-burn inducing event. And it may have been easier on her blood pressure to just let it go. Instead, it was a tense, angst-filled 13 minute episode. Oh wait. Ursula didn't realize that. Bethany did. Ursula is still rejoicing over her triumph! Take your victories where you can get them people...and take every chance to teach the world a lesson!
