The summer wears on...slowly and hot-ly. We are enjoying a peaceful and un-eventful summer. Well, relatively uneventful, at least in terms of last year when we were in the midst of wedding planning. We have a lot to be thankful for...a large part of my family lives in Paradise, California, and have seen two evacuations due to wildfires in the last month. Thankfully, our family has come through without losing anything, which can't be said for everyone. It's a bit of a miracle. We continue to pray for their safety and for the "tragic" burning of my cousin Matt's diesel truck. With gas prices as high as they are, we hope that the Lord will see fit to relieve him of this burden!!
I'm a little sheepish to announce that we have a new pet...a black lab puppy named Lucille O'Neil (see photos to the left). In her short time at our house, she has come to be known also as "Lala", "Luie" and most often, "Lucifer." We, and she, is lucky that her daddy works from home so our shoe collection has remained relatively in-tact. This brings us to five cats and a dog. What in heaven's name we will do when we start adding children to our family, I don't know. But I can say that Lala has been fabulous and our lives would not be the same without her. We wouldn't give her up for anything!
We look forward to spending a week in Bear Lake at the end of July. A Willard family tradition, we have upgraded from camping to "cabin-ing", an improvement that I am thrilled with. We are also planning a quick weekend trip to Portland to visit Gordon's family and attend a cousin's wedding.
We think of you often and hope that you are doing well and savoring life.
