A Christmas Miracle: The Time I Almost Had a Forest Fire In My Office

I had an Anne Shirley moment today.  I felt compelled to share it with you all.

Today, I had steamed broccoli and cauliflower for lunch.  The smell of steamed broccoli is not a nice smell.  It sort of smells like fluffs, if we are going to be honest about it.  After I was finished eating my lunch, I realized that my office smelled very terrible.  I decided that I needed to take action right away.  My brilliant solution was to light a small candle.  So I bummed a light from my HR Pal Chanda.  My candle burned merrily, so bright and cheerful on my desk.  Until the tissue fell on it.  And caught on fire.  And I blew on it to try to put out the fire.  And little embers blew all around my office (thank Todd the door was closed!!)  And then I had to run around my office, stomping on little, teensy embers.

I will tell you what.  It is a GD Christmas Miracle that I didn't set off the fire alarms.  Turns out, I am totally the reason that candles and other flammable objects are against office policy.
